Guardrails
The limits you put around an AI so it stays on task and out of trouble - what it can access, what it must not say, and where a human signs off.
Guardrails are the boundaries you set around an AI tool so it behaves the way your business needs. They cover what the AI is allowed to access, what topics or actions are off limits, and where a human must approve before anything goes out. Good guardrails let you use AI confidently instead of hoping it behaves.
Why it matters for business
AI is powerful but not judgement. Without limits it can wander off topic, invent facts, or take an action you did not intend. Guardrails keep anything customer-facing or money-affecting under a human check, so a mistake stays small and recoverable rather than costly.
- Limit what data and tools the AI can reach.
- Keep a human check on anything sent to customers or that spends money.
- Set a clear cost cap on any AI connected to a paid service.
