    Agentic

Describing AI that acts on its own across several steps to reach a goal, rather than just replying once. The trait that makes an AI agent an agent.

Agentic describes AI that does rather than just answers. A regular assistant responds to one message. An agentic system takes a goal, plans the steps, carries them out, checks its own progress, and adjusts - running a loop until the job is done. It is the quality that separates a chat reply from an agent that gets work finished.

    Why it matters for business

Agentic tools are what let you hand off a whole task instead of babysitting each step. An agentic coding tool can build a working prototype from a description; an agentic automation can process a job end to end. The trade-off is oversight: the more an AI acts on its own, the more it needs clear limits and a human check on anything important.

    The balance

Give an agentic tool a clear goal and clear boundaries, then review what it did. More autonomy is more leverage only when it is well supervised.
